“ 5 Stars! A delightful restaurant serving his quality sushi and sashimi. Always happy with my rolls, or the chefs specials, and I love the noodle dishes. The beef negamaki and the shrimp sushmai are especially good. ”
“ Really good Japanese food at a great price and in a cozy environment! We had their bento box lunches and they were absolutely delicious and big in portion. In particular the Beef Negimaki Teriyaki bento were sooo good. The beef is wrapped into the shape of a sushi with some vegetable and sauce inside. It was so tender and juicy. We were absolutely blown away with this dish! Our regret of the trip to Philadelphia is that we did not get a chance to return back to this restaurant to have this bento again! The other bento was a salmon teriyaki bento. It was equally good, a very well pan fried salmon, crispy skin and soft tender interior. Great great Japanese restaurant. Highly recommended! ”
“ Cute little Japanese restaurant in Philly. We were visiting family and had a very enjoyable dinner there. Ordered a few of the fancier roles. Standout was the Sunshine roll, which was unique and delicious. We highly recommend giving that a try. ”
“ The complimentary green tea was so earthy and nutty, just like the young lady there described. It was the perfect warmth for me to peruse over the menu. I tried the Hokka soup with the chix dumplings and it was delicious. I settled with the sushi special of the night that had me stuffing my mouth with each piece. The mango made it amazing. It was warm and cool. I accompanied that with a side of tempura veggies. The ending green tea put me right where I needed to be before heading back out in the cold. The prices were more reasonable than I expected with the meal just at 35 buks and 42 total with tip. I will be back here for sure with friends and family. ”
“ We love picking up take out from Hokka Hokka! It’s always ready on time and well packaged. I’m so happy we live close by ”
“ One of the best Sushi restaurants around. I worked with the Owner 18 years ago and when he left being a sushi chef where I was Bartender to open his own restaurant, that was the best decision he could have made! Show your support and go have dinner there! Everything on the menu is amazing!!! ”
“ Was looking for good JPN food in the area and decided on Hokka Hokka. Knew the place was popular but needed somewhere nice for a birthday. We. Were. Satisfied! The Atmosphere: The restaurant has great ambience, traditional table seating and a bar. We came around 5 so we were only 1 of 4ish groups as the restaurant opens at 4.30. You'd think this would be a downside but having what felt to be a large space to ourselves was very nice. The Service: The service was nice. Shoutout to Siegfried, our server for the evening. Very patient guy with a great attitude and good recommendation for my indecisive party. Everything was brought out in a timely manner, appetizers coming out in around 5 minutes with entrees 7-8. The Food: The food easily, the best I've had in a minute. First Japanese place I've been too in a minute that doesn't sell fried rice and prioritizes other traditional Japanese cuisine. Everything under the entree section aims to fill you and it does it right. I'd recommend the Gyudon as that packed meat and rice dish had me ready to pass out when I done. I'd also recommend the drunken scallops. My group was so addicted to it they tried asking for the sauce to-go and ended up ordering another order to bring with them. Summary: Great food, more items then your usual sushi shop. Great drinks, friendly staff. Price can be intimidating but it is definitely worth it for a solo trip or special occasion. 10/10 would recommend. ”
“ I'm not sure how I've lived here in the area for just about 10 years, but never heard of this place. The sushi was great and service was phenomenal. Very attentive and good for recommendations. Atmosphere is quaint and cozy. Will be back. ”
